MARC LINDSEY WEBER was Senior Corporate Counsel for Denny's, Inc. from 1982 through 1988. Since then, he has been in private practice in Newport Beach, California. He has also been an attorney with Burke, Williams & Sorensen in Los Angeles. He is a 1978 graduate of the UCLA Law School, and received a Master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1985. At Denny's and in private practice, Mr. Weber has handled hundreds of real estate, franchise, tax, lending, corporate, and pension matters for corporate clients and for many smaller businesses. Mr. Weber continues to represent clients in tax disputes before the Internal Revenue Service and Franchise Tax Board, and he has handled cases in the U.S. Tax Court and Court of Appeals. He has prepared franchise offering circulars (UFOC’s) and helped structure franchise programs for corporate franchisors and advises them regularly regarding on-going franchise relations, disputes and "work-outs.” Mr. Weber represented a major corporate franchisor in two Federal District Court actions, successfully terminating the franchises and enforcing the franchisor's trademark and service mark rights. He has handled a number of multi-unit re-acquisitions of franchised restaurants. Mr. Weber represents our clients in condemnations, including negotiations for compensation and litigation. He also handled transfers of the liquor licenses of over 150 Denny's restaurants in approximately 20 states.
